Those Who Sow in Tears

Psalm 126:5 & 61 min read

It is interesting to note that this verse is often used for winning souls. In fact, that is only how I have ever heard it used. While it can be applied for soul-winning, we could also apply it to other things…like hard work, etc. {This is what AI had to say about Ps. 126…probably sung by the Pilgrims as they journeyed for one of their annual feasts. It begins with a joyful reflection (v1). It expresses their joy and gratitude (v2). It acknowledges the Lord’s great deeds on their behalf (v3). It contains a prayer for continued blessing and restoration. They ask the Lord to bring back those still in captivity, comparing it to dried-up springs (v4). V5 continues with those that sow in tears (experiencing hardship and sorrow) will eventually reap in joy (harvest blessing and joy). V6 encourages us to ‘keep on going’ through difficult ties. Overall, Ps. 126 is a psalm of gratitude for God’s past faithfulness, a prayer for ongoing blessings, and a message of hope and perseverance during challenging times.}. Nowhere is soul-winning mentioned. Again, I can see how they would apply it, but that is not the theme. Thanking God for what He’s done and will continue to do is! It’s a psalm of hope for those going through a hard time. It should bring comfort to us! Keep on going!
