Thoughts from a Rambling Redhead

Perfectly Imperfect

Psalm 139:14–181 min read

Today I’m wearing my shirt that states, “Perfectly imperfect”. I love this shirt. Ps. 139:14 states, “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” Do you know what ‘fearfully’ means? It means awesome!! Think of that for a moment. I was awesome and wonderfully made!! Verse 15 talks about my substance not being hidden from God. Substance is your skeletal framework. He already knew all about me. The things I don’t like about myself, the things I can’t change, He knew and created me that way. Why would I complain about such things? Verse 16 tells us He knew we would be imperfect! And yet verse 17 & 18 states, “How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: When I awake, I am still with thee.” Imperfect me, He thinks about me and it’s precious to Him. Sinful, prideful, hateful, ungrateful ole me, and yet He loves me and thinks good things about me. I guess if God can love a sinful me, I can do better for Him. Imperfect, yet forgiven. Imperfect, yet loved. Imperfect, yet precious to Him. Perfectly imperfect sums it up.
