Thoughts from a Rambling Redhead

A Hug from Jesus

Matthew 28:20b2 min read

“and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.”

My birthday was recently, and if I’m being honest, I was kinda down. I had personal things going on, feeling sorry for myself, etc. It really had nothing with me being another year older. I’ve always viewed age as just a number, and it doesn’t bother me (although I must admit that the years are passing faster and faster). As I said, a number of personal issues led me down a ‘woe is me’ path, where I felt that nobody liked or appreciated me. Mind you, I know this is false, but once you start down that path, it’s really hard to spin it positively. lol. In any case, the day before my birthday, a friend gave me a present. She had everything in it wrapped, including little travel accessories, lipstick, and plug-in scents. It was cute. But this is what made me almost cry immediately (don’t worry, I saved it for later lol). In it was a journal Bible. Not just a regular one but a beautiful one! It was pink with big flowers on it, and the pages were rose gold. She said it just looked like me (not that I think I’m pretty, but it’s nice when someone sees something and thinks of you). It was the same Bible I had ‘saved’ in my Amazon cart for later. I asked if anyone had told her, and she replied that no one had. For me, this was a true hug from Jesus. Not that He’s always with us, because I know that, but because I was feeling down and the gift was like Jesus saying, “I’m here with you. I see you. I appreciate you. You’re not alone,” and it’s truly what I needed. A little reminder from Jesus that He sees you, hears you, knows what you are going through, appreciates you, and He’s right there with you. Whatever you are going through, Jesus has never left your side. He sees you, loves you, understands, and appreciates you.
